Methodology
The documents submitted to LGS comply with the following phases of the process:
- Analysis > a preliminary revision of the text takes place in order to confirm the acceptance of the work as well as the corresponding quotation, delivery deadline(s) and form of payment.
- Work assignment > once the text is analyzed, the translation project is assigned to a qualified professional with expertise in the specialization. We have top-level professionals, registered at the CTPCBA - Colegio de Traductores Públicos de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (Association of Sworn Translators of the City of Buenos Aires), holding advanced degrees within their areas of specialization, as well as university positions in the teaching and investigation sectors.
- Translation > each professional is advised by consultants and experts in each branch of knowledge, and has bibliographic and reference resources. In addition, we constantly manage and update the glossaries of each client in order to guarantee the coherency and accuracy of the terms used in each of our works.
- Second revision > the translation work undergoes a second revision made by another skilled professional. He/she revises the original document and its corresponding translation with the aim of removing any typographical, terminology and/or writing error.
- Design and edition > we have avant-garde software applications, which enables us to provide special edition services according to the client requirements. We are able to work on most of the formats available in the market: QuarkXPress, FrameMaker, PageMaker, Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator, Autocad, Interleaf, Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel, RTF, PDF and HTML.
- Delivery > after the completion of the previous phases of the process, the work is submitted to the client.
With the purpose of keeping the style and terminology accuracy when working in teams or in big projects, we use information technology translation tools (CAT tools) that enable us to share lists of terms and translation memories. These applications store all the translations and allow us to look for words that have previously been translated in different contexts. In doing so, the quantity of consultations and repetitive works is reduced, making it possible for the translator to focus on the details of the text.
LGS uses leading software applications such as Trados, Wordfast, word count applications, website download managers, Microsoft Office, among others.
